Morse code was invented by an American called Samuel Finley Breese Morse, (1791-1872). He was not only an inventor but also a famous painter.
Before the invention of the telegraph, most messages that had to be sent over long distances were carried by messengers who memorized them or carried them in writing. These messages could be delivered no faster than the fastest horse.
Morse’s original code was not quite the same as the one in use today as it included pauses as well as dahs and dits. However, a conference in Berlin in 1851 established an international version, which is shown below:

So now you have learned a little about Morse code and how it came to be a fantastic universal code for passing messages on I would like to introduce you to our very own Morse code collection.
You may or may not have seen some of the latest items we have been creating but I am ever so pleased with these that I have to show them off. I don’t know how the idea came to me to have a go at creating dots and dashes with beads and forming some kind of jewellery with them. I did do a search to see if there was already any out there and was surprised to find quite a few as I hadn’t come across any before, but noticed there weren’t any elasticated designs and most were precious metal therefore in a high price bracket, so I thought I would make a cost effective and elasticated version. I started with Marry Me and once I had made them were so in love knew I had to make more, I also wanted to make these a beautiful gift idea and came up with the idea of a collection logo (which I got the lovely Mr Geek Designs to design for me). This logo then tied the boxes and decoder cards together as a whole gift and potentially large collection. I have since made Love, Mum, Mam, Mother and Best Friends, which are all currently for sale on Etsy, and have wuite a few other ideas in mind to make, I can also do custom orders too. I did make some dummy ones for testing before I marketed them and these were Mrs Geek, Stephanie and Bitch, the feedback and testing were all positive for these and the rest, as they say, is history.
