All my life I have been surrounded by people who could crochet or knit, my mum, aunties, nan, friends etc and this amazing craft has always left me behind. When I was a child my nan tried to teach me to knit but i couldn’t even manage a basic square so I gave up very quickly. I have always been in awe of people who could take a ball of yarn and turn it into something practical, beautiful, wearable, decorative and cosy and have always treasured anything that had been made for me by friends and family with a hidden jealousy and urge to want to be able to do it myself. Β During a recent visit to my best friends she told me she had picked up her hooks again and was determined to make all the gifts she would give herself this year, I told her I had always wanted to make a granny blanket and she grabbed a hook and random ball of wool and proceeded to teach me. I was surprised by how quickly I seemed to pick it up and was having a fab time πŸ™‚ This was the circle to start the blanket πŸ™‚20150123_141618

Before I knew it it was an hour after I was meant to be leaving and I had created a small square πŸ™‚

As the week has gone on I have added with wool I had bought to make pom pom’s with and then mid week a shopping spree for cream wool saw me buy 7 balls in different colours πŸ™‚ So now just over a week in and I have a small blanket the size of one of my sofa cushions, I really am loving this and even took it to the soft play centre with me while mini geek played I drank hot chocolate and crocheted. The blanket I am making atm is going to be for mini geek’s bed but I have the next 2 projects lined up ready and can’t wait to try crocheting with more unusual materials πŸ™‚ but for mow here is my progress so far πŸ™‚

So I am proud to say I am now officially a hooker πŸ˜‰
